Designed to meticulously clean floors on a daily basis, the Neato XV-11 All Floor Robotic Vacuum Cleaner covers every inch of your floors, smartly seeing and working around furniture, stairs, and more. Once it finishes cleaning one entire room, the Neato XV-11 drives through one of the “recognized doorways,” to start cleaning the next room. Like the iRobot Roomba, the XV-11 is an autonomous robotic vacuum. Unlike the Roomba, the XV-11 maps the room it’s cleaning and follows an efficient pattern to minimize cleaning time. The Neato XV-11 is smart, fast, and powerful. Unlike the Roomba vacuum cleaner which goes randomly around a room, the Neato robot will travel in straight paths with minimum of overlap, with the help of a laser range finder and the SLAM algorithm which allows it to map the room being vacuumed while it is completing its task. The XV-11 is able to locate its charger and charge itself when running out of energy, and has sensors which prevent it from falling off stairs.
Smart
The Room Positioning System (RPS) is the proprietary technology that makes Neato as smart as–sometimes smarter–than a human housekeeper. It sees 360 degrees, maps out your room, and then methodically vacuums every square inch, carefully avoiding any furniture, obstacles and stairs. Go ahead and rearrange the furniture: Neato will adapt its course without missing a beat.
Additionally, if running low on power, the XV-11 returns to its charging base, recharges, and then returns to where it left off and finishes the cleaning job–making it a great choice for houses larger open floorplans.
Powerful
The high-performance vacuum inside your robot works in a precise back-and-forth motion, picking up even tiny specks, and easily sliding under sofas, tables and beds. It works on all floor types–carpet, rugs, hardwood, Pergo, and tile–so you never have to clean another floor, even in your bathroom.
Underneath, the Neato XV-11 Robotic is pretty straightforward. It has one single spinning brush with rubber flaps, and that’s it. There’s a little squeegee blade behind the brush, and the vacuum itself is back inside the brush compartment. Render sensors around the side strip hold the golem from descending plume stairs. On top is a recessed latch for the dust bin, the other side of which is a recessed handle that you can use to pick the robot up. The giant orange button wakes the robot up and starts it cleaning, while you can set the rest of the options on the little LCD screen (more on that later).
The terminal engrossing bit is, of way, the bowl on top of the mechanism that houses the laser detector (or indifference sensor, if you prefer). There’s a laser emitter and a receiver, and they spin around inside to make a map of the room that the XV-11 is cleaning in. The laser itself has a power of 2.1mW at a wavelength of 785nm, which is in the near-infrared, so you won’t see it. Also, it’s designated as Class 1, which means that it is safe under all conditions of normal use (for humans and pets).
